Students in 10 schools across Oman are developing print and/or online newspapers as part of a High School Journalism Education Program. Read the first editions of two newspapers produced by Shinas and Afra Bint Obeid schools. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative.

FLORIDA, USA – With medical concerns like pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases looming over their heads during abstinence-only sex education classes, teenagers across the U.S. are calling for a more comprehensive sex education policy. They say that sex education that also focuses on contraceptives, condoms and understanding one's body addresses teens questions while soothing emotional concerns that many students believe are all too often left unaddressed.

Youth in California School Take Up Evolution vs. Intelligent Design


CALIFORNIA, USA – Winona Hudak, 15, is an evangelical Christian who advocates for changing the curriculum at Huntington Beach High School in California, U.S., to include Intelligent Design in the science courses. Proponents of Intelligent Design claim that the universe was created by the Christian god and not by the processes identified by scientists, such as evolution by natural selection.

Students take a break in a journalism camp


FERGHANA, Uzbekistan – Summer is the favourite season for  students because of their school holidays. Fourteen students from schools in Ferghana,  Uzbekistan, spent their summer break in an unusual camp about journalism. Organised by the children's media center, Yangi Avlod (Young Generation), with the support of UNICEF, the summer camp was held in Kuvasai, Ferghana. Even the title of the camp was unusual: "Children about Children in the Media."
